Electric Violin

The electric violin is a unique instrument. The reverberation and sound is more crisp and just sounds more techy. It is akin to the acoustical and electric guitar. The sound is somewhat the same, but the electric has more options to sound very different.

One of the neat things about the electric violin is that you can send the music through a MIDI. The means that the music can be synthesized and professionally be remastered to sound as you wish. This lets the violinist be able to produce higher quality music.

The electric violin is played most famously by the Dave Mathews Band. Other than that, it is relatively obscure, but people still play it and manufacturers still sell it. It has not caught on like the electric guitar.

The electric violin has been played more in hip hop, Jazz, and New Age music more than other genres. The reason is probably that these genres focus on the new and different or unique aspects of music and are the first to adopt new technologies. We assert that the electric violin will gain in popularity as the electric guitar has although the degree of popularity will be diminished.

What needs to happen for the electric violin is for some great composers to use it and get the music out there. A few more bands like the Dave Mathews Band could make a large difference to the outcome of the instrument.
